Hope’s 4-H students were all smiles at the Chamber Community Coffee event on Wednesday morning. Under the awning at The Hub downtown, the adolescent agriculturalists were drumming up support for their upcoming Premium Sale, where bidders can support the 4-H students at a livestock show. Chickens, cows, rabbits, pigs, and a bull will be shown by the students Friday night at Hope Fair Park during the Premium Sale.

At the sale, buyers will bid to get their picture taken with the livestock of their choice, with proceeds going to support the students in the care of their animals. Individuals and corporations are encouraged to attend.

The 36th annual Hempstead County Fair began Saturday, August 28, and continues through Friday. Exhibits are on display from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Livestock check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night, with weigh-in at 7:00 p.m. A livestock show will begin Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. The Premium Show begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning, and Educational Exhibits will be on display from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
