Charitable Christian Medical Clinic holds Lions Club Fish Fry, receives support from numerous local churches and organizations

The lines formed early at the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic Fish Fry held at the Coliseum in Hope Fair Park this evening as eager citizens were ready to receive their fried fish or chicken strip plate. This event is one of the big fundraisers each year for the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic of Hope, and the people of Hope and Hempstead County did not disappoint.

The event was slated to begin at 4:30pm, but 4 o'clock saw many local residents arriving for a head start on grabbing dinner and showing support for the clinic. That was alright though, because the many local churches and other organizations in attendance to support the fish fry were ready to begin. The Hope Lions Club prepared and cooked the fish, chicken, fries, and slaw (Tyson donated the chicken). Youth from Unity Baptist Church served at the dine-in line while the Garrett Leo Club manned the takeout line, and members from GraceLife served drinks. Also from Garrett Memorial Baptist Church was the Youth Group Band who was there to provide musical entertainment for those who were dining in.

Another substantial show of support could be seen in the considerably long dessert table. It was laden with sweets of all kinds that were donated by many other churches in town, as well as individual citizens, to be sold at the Fish Fry and assist in raising funds. With the the many volunteers, multiple donations, and the sizeable crowd in attendance to buy fish and chicken dinners, tonight's event could easily be called a success.
