Cheers to Forty Years; Ronnie Baker retires
A farewell celebration was held this morning for Nevada County Farm Bureau Insurance Agent, Ronnie Baker in the Nevada County Offices.

A mass of locals and out of state visitors came by to show their support for Baker who has been with Farm Bureau for forty years.

Farm Bureau Board President, Bob Cummins said a few words about Baker, “I am glad everyone could come. It’s actually a sad day for me, especially for Nevada County. I’ve known Ronnie, all of us have for most of our lives. He has put in forty long and hard years. We’ve battled over insurance prices but when I leave, I am always happy. We are going to miss you without a doubt, I know I am,” Cummings said.

The crowd enjoyed sweet snacks, punch and wrote notes of sentiment to Baker on a themed ‘Happy Retirement’ table. As everyone mingled, they snapped photos for memories of Baker’s last day in office.

Farm Bureau Agent, Karen Hamilton spoke of Baker with heartfelt gratitude. Holding back tears, Hamilton said, “He gave me an opportunity four and a half years ago when I walked through this door. I never knew that I would come to love and respect him the way that I have. I admire him in so many ways that go beyond just business. I am grateful for our time together at this company. I will miss him.”

“I could not have worked for a better company than Farm Bureau for the past forty years. I have been very blessed to be a part of this company and have the people you see here today in my corner,” Baker said.

When asked what his plans were for retirement, Baker said, “I will do a whole lot of fishing, hunting, and I’ve got five buddies I play golf with every week, once a week so now I am free to play twice a week.  There will be plenty of golf tournaments this summer to enjoy. My wife already has me lined up five mowing jobs so I guess I’ll  do that too.”

It was clear that Agent Ronnie Baker, who  has been a staple in the Prescott community for years will definitely be missed. But it’s doubtful he’ll be far, I’m sure you can find him on the course swinging his club this summer.
