Children Elated with Santa and Trains at Nevada County Depot & Museum
  • Santa made a special stop at the Nevada County Depot & Museum in Prescott this morning for a Cookies with Santa special event. Local children and families gathered to share their Christmas wish list with Santa and enjoy tons of other holiday fun at the museum. After a visit with Santa, the kiddos could visit the Cookies and Milk Station for some sweet snacks and then visit the Jingle Bell Necklace Station to make their own personalized Christmas necklace with jingle bells.

Another big draw for the kids is the large amount of train artifacts and memorabilia to be viewed. All the children visiting the museum today received a holiday gift bag with a train ornament for their Christmas trees, plus other little gifts. Little Raiden Thompson said getting the train ornament was his favorite part, second to seeing Santa, of course! Corbyn Tillmon, who says his favorite thing ever is sports, agreed visiting Santa was the best! Children weren't the only participants in line to see Santa. A family with a grandmother, mother, and daughter came to the depot just to have a family pic of three generations alongside Santa.

Museum Director and Curator, Judy Duke, said this is the fourth year the museum has hosted Cookies with Santa. In addition to giving local kiddos a holiday treat and the chance to see Santa, the museum crew hopes this event will introduce local children to the museum and trains.

Santa said he had a great morning with all thy boys and girls from Prescott and Nevada County, and that lots of local kiddos are on definitely the Nice List.
