Christmas Open House Brings Holiday Magic to Downtown Hope
The rain stopped in time for downtown Hope to glow with Christmas cheer this evening as the annual Christmas Open House kicked off at 5 p.m. This year’s theme, A Holly Jolly Game Night ,” brought fun, color, and nostalgia to every corner of downtown. Businesses decorated their windows to match their assigned board-game themes, creating a vibrant trail of familiar characters, game pieces, and festive artwork. Christmas trees wrapped around the street poles were also designed with board-game inspiration, tying the whole theme together beautifully.

The event, facilitated by the Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, officially welcomed the Holiday season and drew families from across the community.

Carriage rides, sponsored by Steve and Celia Montgomery, were a crowd favorite as visitors enjoyed a tour of the festive streets. At the HUB, the ice rink, courtesy of the Hope Tourism Commission was full of skaters laughing, spinning, and soaking in the holiday atmosphere.

Local businesses kept their doors open with holiday deals and themed displays, while pop-up shops lined the sidewalks and filled indoor spaces, offering unique gifts, handmade crafts, treats, and seasonal surprises. Hot chocolate and coffee stations added warmth to the crisp evening air as families leisurely made their way through downtown.

In the beautifully lit Pocket Park, games galore were set up for families to play.

In the Downtown’s Network Building, the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council presented a live performance of The Twelve Days of Christmas,” starring UAHT faculty member Hollis Thompson and local author Freddie Parks. Their lively skit drew a large and cheerful audience, adding a theatrical spark to the night.

Christy Burns, Executive Director of the Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, shared, This year’s Holly Jolly Game Night theme brought out so much creativity and community spirit. From the board-game windows to the performances, skating, and shopping, it was truly a magical night. We’re grateful for everyone who came out and helped us kick off the season in such a joyful way.”

There was something for everyone to enjoy, and guests left with festive spirits, warm memories, and excitement for the Christmas season ahead.
