From the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home NHS:

Celebrate National Park Week in Hope!

President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site announces our National Park Week Celebrations! National Park Week is an annual national celebration for people to discover and enjoy our country’s remarkable network of natural, cultural, and recreational sites. This year’s National Park week runs from Saturday, April 16 through Sunday, April 24. The NPS welcomes everyone and encourages people to form connections to these places that protect and preserve our shared landscapes, history, and culture. NPS sites and programs reflect the diversity of our country's shared heritage. #sParkConnections

Monday, April 18 from 1:15 – 2:00 PM

Songs of Social Justice

As a young boy growing up in Hope, President Clinton learned important lessons about Social Justice from Pappaw Cassidy, his grandfather as well as Mammaw Cassidy and his mom, Virginia. Over the years the importance of Social Justice has been reverberated through songs. Join songwriter, musician, and Park Ranger Hank Mallery as the colorful character “Crookneck Chandler” for a 45-minute journey through Songs of Social Justice with songs from Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Tracy Chapman and more as we share these important songs and the stories behind them. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket for this outdoor concert.  #sParkCreativity

Wednesday, April 20 from 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM

Steel Rails Tunes and Tales

All Aboard! Trains have been a part of the fabric of Hope dating back to the formative years of President Bill Clinton, before and ever since. They have also had a major impact on the folklore shared by storytellers and songwriters through the years. Join songwriter, musician, and Park Ranger Hank Mallery as the colorful character “Crookneck Chandler” for a 45-minute musical ride through the songs and stories of one of our most storied triumphs in Transportation History and how they have left their mark across a landscape that is truly American. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket for this outdoor concert.  #sParkCreativity #sParkMemories

Friday, April 22 from 1:15 – 2:00 PM

Songs of Hope and Inspiration

“I still believe in a place called Hope” Candidate Clinton said on his way to becoming our 42nd President. We still do too! A big part of the Mission of the National Park Service revolves around providing “Enjoyment, Education and Inspiration” for our visitors. Join songwriter, musician, and Park Ranger Hank Mallery as the colorful character “Crookneck Chandler” for a little bit of all three on a 45-minute journey through Songs of Hope and Inspiration. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket for this outdoor concert. #sParkCreativity

Saturday, April 23 7-9:45 PM

Junior Ranger Day and Movie Night

We invite you to close out our series of National Park Week Celebrations on Saturday, April 23 with Jr. Ranger Day and Movie Night! Junior Rangers are typically between the ages of 5 to 13, although people of all ages can participate.

From 7 to 8 pm the Birthplace Home will be open. A Park Guide will be available to answer questions as you explore and discover the first floor. Visitation to the home will be limited to 10 people at any one time. At 8:05 we will have a Group Jr. Ranger Ceremony. We’ll ask the group 3 questions about things they experienced in the Birthplace Home and pass out Jr. Ranger Booklets for you to take to your home. We’ll hand out the Jr. Ranger badges and have you take an oath of your own to protect parks, continue to learn about parks, and share your own ranger story with friends and family!

At 8:15 join us for the movie “Wall-E”, rated G. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket for the outdoor movie. It will be dark during and after the movie so please bring a personal flashlight for your safety. You are welcome to bring your own snacks to enjoy during the movie. We encourage you to pack it in and pack it out by taking any garbage from your snacks home with you. #sParkDiscovery

All events will be held at the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site located at 117 S. Hervey Street in Hope, Arkansas, 71801.
