Prescott’s Friday night win over Genoa gave them another big win in what has become a 7-0 season for the Curley Wolves. Surprisingly, with a final score of 52-13 in favor of Prescott, the mercy rule didn’t go into effect until the end of the game.

According to Coach Brian Glass, the Genoa Dragons really gung in there defensively, blocking well and giving making Prescott earn their touchdowns.

“We had 15 first downs and Genoa had 14, and it really was a case of just grinding those out. We gave up a couple of sacks that got us behind, so a couple of things could have gone better, but overall we performed well,” Glass said.

Offensively, Glass said, the Curley Wolves gained a total of 629 yards, 383 of which were passing. Jaylen Hopson had six carries for 146 yards. Jacaylon Zachary had four rushes for 25 yards including one touchdown and six catches for 105 yards. Eric Grigsby had four rushes for 15 yards including a touchdown and five catches for 137 yards. Omarion Dickens had three catches for 92 yards including two touchdowns.

In this weekend’s game against Bismarck, Glass said he is interested to see how the team will fair. Bismarck’s Ian Smith, Glass said, is a quarterback who both throws and runs well, so his team will have to keep pressure on him. In addition, Bismarck is a team that has proven quick to get into the backfield, so Prescott’s linemen will have their hands full as well.

“Our goal will really be to just stay on blocking and keep the ball moving in the right direction,” Glass said.
