Friday night's game against Mountain Pine may have been a 56-62 loss for Spring Hill, but according to Coach Greg Smith, the Bears had a lot to be proud of after their performance.

“It was an exciting game for the fans who came out. There was lots of scoring on both sides, lots of offensive movement, just a lot of good football from both teams,” Smith said.

Smith praised the work the boys from Spring Hill put in, as well as their opponents, saying that both teams had incredible offensive threats, as well as playing great defensive football. The game was back and forth, Smith said, and it made for a fast game.

The score was 48-44 at halftime, but the scoring slowed a bit in the second half. Mountain Pine ran a bit more, while Spring Hill stayed the course they'd set early in the game, Smith said, and the game came down to a couple of two-point conversions and some small details.

Offensively, Spring Hill had a great game. Collectively, the offense gained 610 yards, which Smith said may be a school record. TJ Tipton set a personal best with 165 yards on 16 carries, Quarterback Levin McGuire had 22 out of 29 passing for another possible school record with 429 passing yards, and Colin Purifoy had over 200 yards receiving.

Smith also wanted to show his appreciation for the crowd that came out to support the Bears:

“I just want to say thank you to the students that attended, and the community that was there showing Bear Pride. The kids on the field felt the support and love,” Smith said.
