FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -Â Joining the Razorback program as a transfer is Jacob McLeod, a distance runner who claimed a pair of indoor conference titles in the 3,000m and 5,000m competing for Belmont University.
McLeod, who has produced collegiate best times of 8:05.83 in the 3,000m and 13:59.21 in the 5,000m, swept the 2020 Ohio Valley Conference indoor titles at those two distances after claiming silver medals in both events in 2019.
McLeod also earned an at-large qualification into the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships after placing second at the OVC Championships and finishing fourth in the NCAA South Region meet.
Competing for Trinity Dublin Christian School in Dublin, Georgia, McLeod captured multiple Georgia Independent Schools State titles in the 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons to lead his team to three consecutive State championships.
During his senior year in high school he posted an 8:52.70 in the Florida State Relays to break the Georgia State high school record and ranked fifth in the nation for the 2018 season.
Overall, McLeod won 11 State titles, including three in cross country. He finished eighth in the 2016 Footlocker South Regional and advanced to the National Cross Country Championships, placing 15th overall.
