Confusing Truth Claims
I think about Pilate’s question, “What is truth?” (John 18.37) often. Apparently, cultural confusion is not something new to this generation. To some degree or another, every generation has wrestled with God’s definition of truth vs their own. Our group is no different. Pilate was confused because he saw something in Jesus that made him nervous. Jesus wasn’t like every other revolutionary that crossed his path headed toward crucifixion. Jesus was honest. He looked the lesser king in the eye. To Pilate, it seemed, there was love, a greater love than he had ever known, behind those eyes. He did not want to punish Jesus, but in the end of his inner battle, the culture won and Jesus went to the cross.

Each generation has a different battle to fight, but they all hinge on truth. This generation is in the battle for sexuality. Confusion is the name of the game. Our President is narrowing the field by removing titles, bathroom privileges and declaring the existence of only two genders. But this is not going to win the war. President Trump’s actions are good, but they aren’t changing public opinion. Girls who are contemplating a sex change aren’t going to suddenly alter their thinking because the White House says there’s no such thing as transgender. Victory, in this scenario, must be declared in a different way. Let me explain.

This is a narrative where the majority of the players are children. Twisted adults led the charge to get here. They inundated social media and doctor’s offices with their sexual propaganda. They influenced many educators and completely took over major media outlets. The main product of their labor, however, is not more adults going under the knife, physically or emotionally. They shout victory when children, the next generation, follow in their footsteps. They are here to enshrine transgender ideology in our culture. Victory is not declaring White House bathrooms as male and female. Victory is when the current generation of teens and preteens sees the sexually perverted lie they’ve been led to believe and chooses to believe the truth instead. Let me give you an example.

Are you familiar with the children’s show, Blue’s Clues? Were you aware they had a Pride Parade on their show? The parade is hosted by a cartoon drag queen. In the parade, the ‘queen’ sings, “Families marching one by one…Hurrah! Hurrah! These papas are non-binary, they are marching so proudly!” They go on to list trans, family choice, bi and pan, kings and queens, queer, and the famous phrase “love is love.” This, coupled with drag queen story hour at libraries across the nation, is proof of how trans-activists target the younger generation. Victory can only be declared when girls and boys are delivered from this agenda.

How does this play out? The logical end of this kind of thinking ends up with young girls having double mastectomies and young boys being castrated. It ends with hormone therapy with the goal of ‘transitioning’ these kids to another gender than what they were born with. The logical end of this agenda has children of the opposite gender competing in sports where they can have an unbalanced win and going into locker rooms and restrooms where they are not welcomed. Taking it one step further, this agenda has these children growing up incapable of having children. It mutilates their bodies and puts them in a position of deep regret later in life. I can’t help but hear Pilate, with a confused look on his face, asking “What IS truth?”

The only way victory will ever be celebrated over this traumatizing and destructive agenda is when Jesus, the embodiment of Truth, is seen for who He is. Once the blinders are taken off, and Jesus is seen as the Creator, the Redeemer and, in this particular case, the Truth. If I believe Jesus has the full capability of rescuing people and I know Him, how horrible would it be for me to keep my mouth shut? That’s not tolerance or acceptance. Silence on my part would be hatred. This would be akin to a doctor diagnosing cancer and informing the patient that he/she does not have a fatal disease but is just sick with the flu. On the other hand, if the doctor diagnoses cancer and gives treatment options, the individual then has the choice of ignoring the disease or doing something about it.

Yes, sin is a disease and the mutilation of children’s bodies is a direct result of sin. Before I claim victory in this case, I am waiting for a change in the destructive agenda. I am waiting for kids to come out of this lifestyle and for parents to see its incredible harm. I am waiting for a swing in our culture that recognizes the stupidity of Drag Queen Story hour and the foolishness of 17 year old boys competing in girls track events. I am waiting for Jesus to be seen for who He is. When that happens, I will celebrate. Until then, I will pray.
