In a tradition that's just as long as the festival itself, the Hope Lions Club held their Annual Fish Fry tonight at the Watermelon Festival. Menu options of fish, chicken, fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and tea were a huge draw for the numerous festival patrons who stopped by the Hope Fair Park Community Center for a plate. Lion's Club Treasurer Debbie Marsh said the organization was thrilled to continue this annual event. "This is one of the biggest fundraisers we have to raise funds for giving back to the citizens of our county," Marsh said. "We always enjoy community events, and it is great to be a part of the Watermelon Festival." Lions Club members ventured into the heat with no complaints to cook the delicious fried feast, and those who sampled the savory bites expressed their appreciation by clearing their plates, leaving no crumbs or mini morsels behind.
