Monday evening at 6:00 p.m., a lively crowd gathered on the streets of Prescott to witness the Nevada County Fair Parade. Children of all ages were in attendance, from infants to a venerated 91-year-old veteran named Curtis Johnson, who watched the spectacle from the cab of his pickup. The weather had threatened rain earlier in the day, leaving residents in a muggy heat, but spirits were high as the parade made its way through town.
Led by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department, with their sirens blaring and lights flashing, the parade included the Prescott marching band and several parade floats holding pageant entrants for the fair. Mostly composed of cars and trucks with signs touting their occupants’ pageant parameters, other floats included the Prescott Junior and Senior High cheer teams, and the Nevada County Fire and Rescue brought up the rear with a trio of trucks led by a pair of plush mascots (whose brave occupants were no doubt panting in the heat much like the canine characters they wore).
Come join the fun this week at the Nevada County Fairgrounds!
