Curley Wolves are Ready for Season-Opener in Crossett
Prescott- The Curley Wolves are set for their season-opener this Friday as they hit the road to Crossett to take on a big Eagles squad. The Eagles went 6-5 last season, as they made the playoffs, but had a first-round exit to the hands of Nashville. The Eagles are returning 6 starters on both sides of the ball, but they have a hungry pack of Wolves headed that way, with one thing on their mind, a dominant performance and starting the season 1-0. “They’re real big up front, on both sides of the ball, their left tackle is 6’6 325, but we should have the speed advantage,” Coach Brian Glass said as he spoke on the Eagles size.

The Eagles will run their offense mostly out of the spread, they use a TE and FB a lot. Look for Crossett to throw the ball a good bit, but the stingy Wolves defense will look to make a lot of plays, as Lavonte Gleason, Richard Benton, Michael Brownlee, and DeCari Prater will look to be difference makers on Friday.

“We want to start quicker this season on offense, we want to really focus on getting off to a great start on the offensive side of the ball,” Coach Glass said as he spoke on one of the aspects he wants to improve on from last season. Offensively, DeCari Prater has been given the keys to the offense and he will look to make the most of it on Friday night. Prater has a lot of options to distribute the ball too, including next-level WR D’Wayne White. The running game for the Curley Wolves could also be primed for a big night. “I’m looking forward to seeing KJ Page and (Tiquan) Box run the ball on Friday, they could both have big nights,” Coach Glass said as he spoke on the running game earlier this week.

The Eagles will have the size advantage, but in Prescott it’s not the size of the Wolf in the fight, but the size of fight in the Wolf. Look for the trenches to be real competitive early on, but I like the Wolves to outlast the Eagles up-front as the game progresses and pull away for a big win. I asked D’Wayne White if he was ready for Friday night? He replied, “I was born ready.” Look for the Wolves to strike early and often on Friday night.

An exciting part about this Curley Wolves team is a new front-four on the defensive line and a few of new faces at LB. All the coaches are excited about this defensive unit and look for them to come out and play great in Crossett on Friday night.

Kickoff is set for 7PM in Crossett. GO WOLVES 🐺 !!!
