Prescott- Week two of conference play is set to kick-off Friday night as your Curley Wolves hit the road to head to Junction City. Prescott 4-1 (1-0) coming off a slaughter of rival Gurdon 52-7, to take on the Dragons 3-2 (1-0) who ran away from Fouke in the 2nd half last week to a 55-20. This is the game where most people believe these are the two best teams in 5-3A. “They’re super athletic, big upfront, good size and speed on both sides of the ball”, Coach Brian Glass said Monday morning. Junction City is a pretty well-balanced offensively, on defense they run a 4-2-5 defensive look, “this will be the first 4-man front we’ve seen this season”, Glass said when asked about the defensive scheme of the Dragons. There is a going to be a lot of opportunities for the Prescott playmakers to make plays, as Pierce Yates looks to continue to hit his stride and lead the offense to some big numbers. A plethora of weapons for the Curley Wolves look to score early and often as Jaylen Johnson, P.J. Gulley, Dwayne White, and Spencer Hubbard will look to continue to run great routes and show off their elite ball skills to create points for the offense. Ja’Noah Harris has been unstoppable the last couple of weeks out of the backfield, with a dominant offensive line creating some big running lanes for him to run through. Prescott senior Rocco Patrick spoke Monday on the upcoming game, “I’m expecting a big game, a big win, this is supposed to be the top-2 teams of the conference, we’re ready and we feel confident.”Â

Defensively, the Curley Wolves’ front four continue to impress, as I’ve stated before that I believe to be the best D-line in all of 3A, led by Jamarion Burton, Rocco Patrick, Rasheed Muhammed, and Marshawn Rafter. LB Talan Smith is among the leading tacklers in the state, looks to continue his streak of very impressive games as Junction City is going more than likely going to try and establish a running game early. The “No Fly Zone” of Decari Prater, Lavonte Gleason, Jaquan Dickerson, J.K. Jones, and Richard Benton will welcome any challenge Junction City will throw at them. I read something last week that said, “water covers 2/3’s of the planet, the Curley Wolves secondary covers the rest” and so far this season they have consistently won there matchups. Prescott looks to continue its dominance on the 5-3A conference and secure another district title, and this Junction City game is an obstacle this hungry pack of wolves are ready to overcome. Kickoff is set for 7PM in Junction City, hopefully everyone is in attendance at the game, but if not SWARK.Today will be livestreaming the game.Â
