"They're physical in the box, but we have the speed advantage in all the skill positions," Coach Brian Glass said as we talked about the matchup with the Lions. Up-front, Horatio has some good size, but the quickness of the Wolves up front should be a good matchup for Prescott.
Defensively for Horatio, the Lions have been in a 4-man front all season, but Coach Glass is ready for an odd front if that presents itself on Friday night. The O-Line had a good week last week for Prescott, as 5 different runners scampered in the endzone last week (Prater, Page, Box, White, Dixon). Jay Monk showed off some good footwork at the back of the endzone as he caught a TD on a nice pass from Prater. DeCari Prater will look to continue his excellent play especially with weapons on the offense like KJ Page, D'Wayne White, Michael Brownlee, Jay Monk, and Tiquan Box on the field. A big unsung so to say part of this teams success is a great offensive line, which has been playing really well as of late. Look for the Curley Wolves offense to come out fast and move the ball early, as they will try and grab an early lead in this conference matchup.
The Lions offense runs the ball at a higher clip than they pass, but the score of the game could dictate that strategy. If Prescott jumps out early, it could force the Lions to throw more and take more chances, which should benefit Prescott as the pass rush and the secondary are strengths of this team. D'Wayne White had 4.5 sacks last week as he has become an elite edge-rusher. The secondary of Lavonte Gleason, DeCari Prater, Michael Brownlee, and Richard Benton are perhaps the most talented secondary in 3A.
Prescott will look to begin their journey for another conference title 2-0 this week and picking up a big conference road win would be big for the Wolves. Look for some early points for Prescott, as they should get off to a hot start, and then let the defense bring it home and force some big turnovers. GO WOLVES 🐺 !!!
