Curley Wolves Set for Matchup with Homer
Prescott- The #1 ranked Curley Wolves (6-1) (3-0) will welcome in Homer (5-1) Friday night in a non-conference matchup, in a rematch of last years’ hard-fought 9-0 road win for Prescott. Coming off a big conference road win last week in Fouke, Prescott seems to be rolling right now and are confident they will continue in the right direction. “We’ve started fast the last few weeks, and we hope to continue that”, Coach Brian Glass said Tuesday about the importance of a fast start Friday night. Senior Jamarion Burton spoke defense Monday, “Defense is going to be locked in, their offense is not suited to deal with the caliber of defense we have, should be a physical game.” Burton leads what I believe to be the best defensive front in all of 3A football, joined by Marshawn Rafter, Rasheed Muhammed, and Rocco Patrick, they look to dictate the game upfront. The Prescott line-backer group, led by Talan Smith has been great all season long, Tayshawn Smith has also been excellent this season, leaving opposing defenses nowhere to run. And we have to speak on the “No Fly Zone”, led by Decari Prater, adding JK Jones back to mix the last couple of weeks is huge, to go along with ball-hawk Lavonte Gleason, and lockdown defenders like Richard Benton and Jaquan Dickerson, this group is the most talented secondary in 3A. Coached extremely well by Coach Williams and Coach Walker, this unit has been tough to move the ball down the field against.

Curley Wolves QB Pierce Yates has been playing great football, as he has been the Sheriff for this explosive Prescott offense that have posted numbers of 41, 52, 49, and 54 points in their last 4 games. Glass spoke on his QB, “Pierce is starting to come into his own, he’s throwing the ball on time and leading this offense.” Last weeks’ SWARK.Today Player of the Week Jah’Noah Harris looks to exploit the Pelicans defense this Friday as the great offensive line of the Curley Wolves should give him plenty of running room. “The defensive backs of Homer fly to the football, so we’re going to have to run great routes and block on the perimeter”, Coach Glass said about the Homer secondary. The Pelicans secondary is going to have their hands full with weapons Dwayne White, Jaylen Johnson, PJ Gulley, Spencer Hubbard, and Decari Prater sees some action as well at wideout. Kicker John Rabadan spoke Monday, “I think we’re going to score a lot, special teams are going to play well, we’re ready.” Look for the Curley Wolves offense to get going early and keep Homers defense on their heels. Kickoff is set for 7PM. GO WOLVES!!
