Curley Wolves Start the Season with a 56-20 Victory over Bismarck
Bismarck- Football season is officially back, and Prescott is already back to its winning ways as they traveled to Bismarck and mauled the Lions 56-20. The Curley Wolves had a couple mishaps in the opening half to allow the Lions to stay in the game, but still managed to take a 7-point lead into the half. Pierce Yates and the offense would then find their stride and broke the game open in the 3rd quarter and never looked back as they outscored Bismarck 35-6 in the 2nd half to secure a win.

1st Quarter

KJ Page got the scoring started in the game as he scampered to the endzone on a 31-yard run to give the Curley Wolves the early 7-0 after John Rabadan put the PAT through the uprights. Bismarck would then tie the game at 7-7 on a TD run by QB Ben Keithley. The next drive RB Ja’Noah Harris would break loose for a 56 yd Touchdown to give the Curley Wolves a 14-7 lead after the opening quarter.

2nd Quarter

Dalton Daniels of Bismarck would score on a long 54-yard run to tie the game back up at 14-14. With less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half, QB Pierce Yates found Jaylen Johnson for a 19-yard touchdown pass. That TD pass put the Curley Wolves up 21-14 before the half and Prescott would not look back.

3rd Quarter

Dwayne White got the scoring going early in the 3rd quarter as he hauled in a 61-yard TD pass from Pierce Yates to extend the lead to 28-14 after Rabadan knocked through the PAT.  Yates would then use his legs to power in a TD from 3 yards out to grab complete control of the game 35-14. After yet another great defensive stand, KJ Page the set his sight on the endzone and no Lion would catch him as he outran the defense for a 69-yard TD. Prescott would head into the final quarter with a 42-14 lead. The offensive line was great, and the defense kept Bismarck out of the endzone, allowing the offense to put the game out of reach. Also, a great special teams play took place as Prescott blocked a FG attempt to keep Bismarck off the board in the 3rd quarter.

4th Quarter

QB Ben Keithley of Bismarck would score on a 2-yard run to bring the game to 42-20. Yates would then find Dwayne White for the second time of the half on a 26-yard TD pass to bring the lead to 49-20. PJ Gulley would join the action as he hauled in an impressive 82-yard Touchdown from Yates. John Rabadan would hit his 8th PAT of the game to make it 56-20.

The 2nd half the defense was very impressive, limiting the Lions to next to nothing the entire half. The Curley Wolves defensive line made a huge impact, as they sacked the Quarterback 6 times. The “No Fly Zone” allowed only a total of 77 passing yards and 2 pass breakups (Lavonte Gleason, Decari Prater), as they continue to work hard and impress. Talan Smith was a monster Friday night as he led the defense with 8 solo tackles and assisted on many more, Jaquan Dickerson and Tayshawn Smith tallied 5 solo tackles each. Jamarion Burton, Marshawn Rafter, Rocco Patrick, Tayshawn Smith, Rasheed Muhammed, and Cliff Davis each had sacks. Patrick also swatted a ball at the line.

Big shoutout to the O-Line as they had their way Friday night as they kept Pierce on his feet and both Ja’Noah Harris and KJ Page each eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground. Yates had 370 total yards Friday night, 333 passing yards and 37 rushing yards with 5 total TDs (4 passing 1 rushing). Harris had 113 yards rushing with a TD and Page would have 101 yards and 2 TDs. Yates distributed the ball well Friday night as 6 different Curley Wolves had receptions. Dwayne White had 5 catches for 124 yards and 2 TDs, Jaylen Johnson went 4 for 85 yards and a TD, and PJ Gulley had 88 yards and TD on 2 receptions. Spencer Hubbard hauled in 2 balls for 31 yards, including a big 3rd down catch. Decari Prater and Ja’Noah Harris each had a reception as well. The Curley Wolves are back in action next Friday as they cross state lines in Oklahoma to take on McAlester.
