Jaiden Brown started the game off with a single, advanced to 2nd on a passed ball, and was then moved to third base on a ground ball from Austin Courtney. Jack Johnson helped out his own cause with a sac fly to score Brown from third to give Hope an early 1-0 lead. The Curley Wolves did not take long to respond, as they put some pressure on the Bobcat defense by putting balls in play and Jayden Purtle made them pay for a couple of miscues, as Purtle singled home two runs for Prescott. Prescott would go on to tack on another run in the inning.
In the second inning, a leadoff single by Isreal Juarez led to a bases loaded walk that scored another Hope run, as they cut the Wolves lead down to 3-2. Wes Harper got a single, which would score Spencer Hubbard on an error. That would be followed by Marketric Mixon smoking a double that scored Harper to give Prescott a 5-2 advantage after 2 innings. Juarez would knock in a run for the Bobcats on a ground ball to make the score 5-3 Prescott headed into the bottom of the 3rd. The pitching and defense would settle in, as the score remained 5-3 until the bottom of the sixth inning, as Owen Glass put a ball in play that scored Dalton Stockton to give Prescott a 6-3 lead. Keegan Simmons would shut the door in the 7th inning for the Wolves, as he would earn the save for Prescott in their 6-3 win.
Hubbard went 4 innings on Friday, allowing 2 ER while striking out 4 batters, collecting the win. Keegan Simmons was great on the mound in relief, going 3 strong innings, allowing no runs and striking out 3. For Hope, Johnson went 4 innings, striking out 1 batter and Austin Courtney came in the game in relief, striking out 2 in two innings of work.
At the plate, the Wolves were led by Jayden Purtle with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Mixon added a double and an RBI, while Wes Harper, Rhett Bullinger, Dalton Stockton, and Wes Cornelius each had singles. Owen Glass finished the game with an RBI. For the Bobcats, Sam Johnson had another multi-hit game with a double and a single. Trey Hoglund added a triple. Austin Courtney, Jaiden Brown, and Isreal Juarez each had a single for Hope.
Prescott is back in action on Monday as they host Arkadelphia and Hope is back on the diamond against Arkadelphia Tuesday in their conference opener.
