Curry's Community Outreach Ministry in Prescott hosted a Funday yesterday evening to kick off the summer for local youth. In addition to food, a bounce house, a super-sized Connect 4 and other outside games, the event hosted Level 14 Mobile Entertainment out of Texarkana. This migrating fun-mobile held a bevy of games that the kiddos could play, and eight-year-old Jakobe was one of the first kids inside to try it out. He said he really enjoyed playing the baseball game.
Some kids took turns rotating between the Level 14 games and the outside fun while others went inside the ministry to check out a new movie that the Currys had procured just for them. Pastor Ivory Curry said an event such as this not only provided the kids with a fun night out trying new things, but it also had long-lasting impacts.
"It's summer in rural Arkansas and there aren't many choices for the kids, so we want to provide a positive environment for all ages to come out, have fun, and try new things," Curry said. "They may not get the opportunity to see the newest movie at the cinema or try out the latest games, and doing these positive activities together allows them to build relationships that will carry on into the school year and later in life."
Curry said the entire event was made possible by donations and that he, Mrs. Curry, and fellow members of the ministry appreciated the support given by the businesses and citizens whose graciousness allowed the children to have such a great night.
