But Prescott's defense dominated the entire game as the Curley Wolves took an early 7-0 lead on a Pierce Yates' touchdown run, after Jamarion Burton gave Prescott excellent field position on a special teams play. Yates would then carry the ball into the endzone to put the Curley Wolves on the board.
After that the only points scored were with 1:07 left in the game when the Redbugs scored on a rare mistake by the Curley Wolves. Big moments are made from big opportunities,and Talan Smith and Marshawn Rafter made the most of a season defining moment, as Fordyce elected to go for the 2-pt conversion to take the lead. Smith and Rafter stuffed the run at the line of scrimmage to make the biggest play of the night.
Prescott recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt. Pierce Yates took a knee twice, and the Wolves advance to play Bismarck in the third-round.
Defensively, Jamarion Burton, Marshawn Rafter, Rocco Patrick, and Talan Smith all had multiple sacks and tackles for losses in the Curley Wolves win.
Jah'Noah Harris had 88 yards rushing but also had an 83-yard TD scamper called back due to a holding penalty. Yates and the offense did not move the ball well, but protected the ball and did not give Fordyce good field position. Punter Jaylen Johnson did a great job pinning the Redbugs multiple times inside the 20-yard line.
After the game Coach Glass caught up with SWARK reporter Caytlee Poole to discuss the win, "What a game, the defense had to get a stop on the 2-point conversion and recover an onside kick. We did it. On to round three."
The defense played a tremendous game Friday night as they continue to take care of business on the field. A rematch with Bismarck is set for this week's round three matchup. A round three preview will be out on Thursday. Go Wolves!!
