SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – John Daly II had four birdies with an eagle over his final five holes and was crowned champion of the one-day, 36-hole Columbia Spring Invitational, played at the par-70 Rolling Green Golf Club. All five Razorbacks placed among the top 20 to give the team a runner-up finish.

Daly had rounds of 70-69 for a 1-under-par total of 139 to claim his first collegiate win. He tied Mathew Lin (Yale) and Tyler Brand (Dartmouth) but was declared champion in a scorecard playoff.

Daly carded an even-par 70 in the morning session with an eagle on the par-5, 7th. In the afternoon, he opened round two as he did round one with a bogey on the par-4, 3rd hole. He birdied hole seven to get back to even but fell 5-over with a double on hole nine and bogies on holes 10, 13 and 14. He played the final five holes at 6-under with birdies on holes 16, 18, 1 and 2 and an eagle on hole 17.

Mark Stockdale finished in fourth, one stroke off the lead, shooting 71-69 for an even-par 140 over 36 holes. He started round two with a birdie on his opening hole (the par-4, 4th) then dropped a shot on the par-3, 6th. He answered with an eagle on the par-5, 7th before reeling off 13 straight pars. A bogey on his final hole led to his 1-under 69.

Erich Fortlage and Thomas Curry each turned in rounds of 74-72 for a 6-over 146 to tie for 10th. Both players had an eagle in the first round. Fortlage on the par-5, 7th and Curry holing out on his second shot on the par-4, 18th.

Gerardo Gomez tied for 20th with an 8-over 148. He opened with a 76 and bounced back with a 72 in the afternoon.

Yale, the leader after round one, finished strong as its top four golfers played their final 16 combined holes at 8-under. Overall, the Bulldogs had rounds of 286-281 for a 7-over total of 567. Arkansas had rounds of 289-282 for an 11-over 571. Dartmouth was third at +24 (574) and host Columbia was fourth at +29 (589).

Arkansas closes the regular-season by playing in Virginia’s Lewis Chitengwa Memorial April 14-15 before playing the 2025 SEC Championship April 23-27.
