Dominique Bowman likely replacement for Carter

FAYETTEVILLE - Marshall University defensive backfield coach Dominque Bowman is about to become Arkansas’ cornerbacks coach, it was first reported  Tuesday by FootballScoop.com and reported since by various media outlets and sources.

Sam Carter, the cornerbacks coach in Arkansas’ 2020 and 2021 season under Sam Pittman and defensive coordinator Barry Odom, and a quality control assistant from 2016-2019 when Odom was Mizzou’s head coach, on Monday left the Razorbacks staff to coach cornerbacks at Ole Miss.

Pittman and Odom must have known Carter was departing for awhile given how quickly it seems Pittman is about to hire Bowman.

A native of Memphis with strong recruiting ties there including two years as defensive coordinator  at Cordova High School in Memphis, Brown’s first collegiate coaching job was in Arkansas in 2016 coaching defensive backs at the University of Arkansas-Monticello followed by two years as assistant head coach/defensive backfield coach at Tennessee-Martin.

Bowman in 2019 became the co-defensive coordinator/defensive backfield coach at Austin Peay.  He joined Marshall’s staff in 2021.

Until Bowman’s hiring is formalized, Pittman has two full-time staff vacancies having recently  parted company with defensive line coach Jermial Ashley.
