Fouke- Nick Wells got the nod from Coach Hudson on Monday evening in the Dragons conference opener against Fouke and did not disappoint. Wells shoved 6 innings of 4-hit ball, striking out 10 batters, and allowing just 1 run. After the game, Wells spoke on the win, "The defense did perfect, no errors it was a great game for us." The Genoa Central defense did a great job throughout the game, making every play possible. Braxton Robertson came in relief and pitched a perfect 7th inning with two strikeouts to secure the win for the Dragons, as they began conference play with a 8-1 win over the Panthers.
The Genoa offense banged out 8 hits and did a great job at the plate drawing 9 walks and 2 HBP's, as the bases were full of Dragons all game.
Will Spears and Brayden Cobb each had 3-hit nights, as they both did a great job setting the tone at the top of the order for the Dragons. Cobb had 2 RBI and Spears scored every time he reached base. Riley Mudford smoked a double and drove in 3 runs for Genoa and Cameron Bush had a single. Nick Wells helped his cause with 2 RBI at the plate. Nate Thomas and Braxton Robertson each drew multiple walks at the plate.
The Dragons are set to take on Centerpoint Friday night.
