Smackover- The Genoa Central Dragons (8-3, 1-0) hit the road and headed to Smackover for their conference opener and left with a big road win over the Buckaroos 47-38. The smothering defense of the Dragons and the paint presence of Peyton Hicks, who posted 5 blocks kept Smackover from going on any big runs, or getting in a flow offensively.
Three Dragons finished the night in double figures, as Brayden Cobb and Peyton Hicks both led Genoa with 14 points. Cobb added 3 steals and 3 rebounds, while Hicks added 4 boards and 3 steals. Braxton Robertson scored 11 points and led the team with 6 assists, as he continues to display great vision and playmaking ability. Nathaniel Thomas added 4 points and added 3 assists and 2 rebounds.
With the win Genoa improves to 8-3 overall and begins conference play 1-0. The Dragons are back in action on Tuesday night as they host Taylor.
