The defense has been locked in all week for Genoa and they were completely locked in on Friday night. "They run their offense through #10 so we knew if we shut him down we'll win everytime," Dragons hooper Peyton Hicks said after the game on the defensive game plan. A big credit to the Dragons limiting the Panthers top scorer was the scheme in which Coach Hamilton drew up, but also a great night from Brayden Cobb who wanted that assignment. "Cobb wanted the job manning up Carson so I let him have it so he did a great job," Coach Drew Hamilton said as he spoke on his senior guard after the game.
The Dragons grabbed the lead early and never gave it back after that, as they continued to extend the lead and fight off any kind of run that Fouke could put together on Friday night. Holding Fouke to just a couple of buckets in the entire second quarter allowed the Dragons to take a double-digit lead into the half. "I thought everyone played great tonight, guys came off the bench guarded well, it was a great team win tonight," Hamilton said after the game.
Peyton Hicks posted his third double-double of the week, as he scored 21 points and grabbed 12 boards on Friday night. Hicks also had 5 blocks and 4 steals. Jaxson Muhl scored 8 points, as he has been playing at a high level these past few weeks. Brayden Cobb scored 7 points, had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, on top of playing full court man all game. Brody Helms scored 6 points, led the Dragons with 6 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds. Nathaniel Thomas scored 4 points and had 4 rebounds.
With the win, the Dragons improved to 8-4 in conference, and look to be trending in the right direction with the final two conference games coming this week. You can find Genoa back in action on Tuesday as the host Centerpoint.
