Genoa took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the 2nd inning on a ground ball from Brayden Cobb that scored Nicholas Wells. In the top of the 3rd, Jack Johnson singles home Austin Courtney of Hope to even the game at 1-1. Nathaniel Thomas would break the tie with an RBI single to give the Dragons a 2-1 lead. The flood gates would open for the Dragons, as they added 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, as the Dragons kept applying pressure and took advantage of some Bobcat miscues. Genoa would go on to 4 more runs in the 4th inning and end the game in the sixth, as Brody Helms drew a bases loaded walk that scored Nathaniel Thomas, giving the Dragons an 11-1 victory.
For Genoa Central, Teer tossed 4 innings of 3-hit ball, striking out 9 batters. Sullivan Wallace came in relief and tossed two shutout innings for the Dragons. Jack Johnson tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing 4 ER and striking out 3 batters for Hope. Austin Courtney would pitch in middle relief for the Bobcats, earning 1 strikeout and Sam Johnson threw the last inning.
At the plate, Nathaniel Thomas led the way with 3 singles and drove in 2 runs. Gray Wallace and Braxton Robertson each had a 2-game, with Wallace driving in 2 runs and Robertson driving in one run. Brody Helms, Riley Mudford, Hayden Teer and Brayden Cobb each had singles for the Dragons. Teer had 2 RBI, while Helms and Cobb each had 1 RBI. For the Bobcats, Jack Johnson had and RBI single. Austin Courtney had a single and scored a run, and Trey Hoglund had a single.
The Dragons are back in action on Wednesday as they head to Henderson State for a game with Warren. Hope hits the diamond again on Thursday in Bismarck.
