In the game agianst LE on Thursday, the Dragons fell to a really good LE, who would go on to win the tourney 90-50. Braxton Robertson led the team in scoring in this game with 14. Robertson also dished out 4 assists. Peyton Hicks had 10 points and 3 blocks, Jaxson Muhl and Nathaniel Thomas each scored 6 points. Austin Pell had 4 points.Â
In the Dragons other game on Thursday, they would go on to beat Gospel Light 63-46. Brayden Cobb torched the nets for 21 points, as he shot the ball really well. Michael Harper had 7 points, Peyton Hicks, Nathaniel Thomas, and Austin Pell each scored 6 points, with Brody Helms and Jaxson Muhl each scoring four points. Braxton Robertson added 2 points and had 2 steals.Â
On Friday, the Dragons had a tough matchup against PG, as they would drop the game to the Hawks. Peyton Hicks led the way with 13 points, 8 blocks, and 5 boards, as his defensive presence in the paint has been elite all season. Brayden Cobb added 6 points and Braxton Robertson scored 4 points.Â
The Dragons would turn it around against Rivercrest that evening, as they won a close game against a really good Rivercrest team 67-61. Braxton Robertson was scoring the ball at will, as he poured in 23 points, had 4 boards, and 3 assists. Peyton Hicks had 14 points and had another 5-block game, along with 7 rebounds. Brayden Cobb had 8 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds.Â
In the Dragons final game, they played the host team Redwater, and the Dragons jumped out early, as they had a 13 point lead in the opening quarter behind 17 points from Peyton Hicks in the first quarter. Hicks would finish the game with 28 points. Redwater would fight back, but the resilience of Genoa would come to light, as they fought hard and pulled away at the end to win the game 71-59. "That was a really good performance from our guys today against Redwater, really proud of the way they fought til the end," Coach Drew Hamilton said as he spoke on the Dragons hard-fought win over Redwater.Â
Great weekend for Genoa as they got a lot of basketball in in three days. The Dragons are back in action on Monday as they begin conference play as they travel to Smackover.Â
