The Veterans of Foreign Wars Scout of the Year program recognizes young people who demonstrate exceptional citizenship, patriotism, and dedication to community and country. The program is open to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Sea Scouts who have achieved the highest rank in their respective organizations.
In addition to this achievement, Wright also earned a $100 scholarship from VFW Post 2278 for her third-place finish in the Voice of Democracy scholarship competition, an annual audio-essay contest for students in grades 9–12. This year’s theme asked students to reflect on the question, “How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?”
Wright’s accomplishments highlight her commitment to leadership, service, and civic engagement—qualities celebrated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and her community.
