Early Monday Morning Accident
This morning central dispatch received a call close to 8 am regarding an accident on U.S. Highway 278 North near the United Agri – John Deere company.

Upon Sheriff Deputies arrival, they observed a 2008 Pontiac Torrent in a field approximately fifty yards on the East side of U.S. Highway 278.

Witnesses on scene observed the Pontiac traveling South on U.S. Highway 278 when the driver struck the rear end of a John Deere Tractor that was being driven on the shoulder of the road. (The tractor was not in connection to United Agri.) After the Pontiac struck the tractor it then crossed the highway, traveled through a ditch, a fence, and through a gate. The vehicle then traveled an additional fifty yards striking a small tree and finally resting sideways in the field.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported to a local hospital by Pafford EMS to be treated for injuries. The driver of the tractor sustained no injuries. The accident was investigated by Arkansas State Trooper K. Peeks and assisted by several Hempstead County Sheriff Deputies.
