Effective today: Traffic lights gone at West Third and Elm Street in Hope
The city government of Hope has announced the removal of traffic lights at the intersection of West Third and Elm Street .  This action is effective immediately.

Near the end of 2025, City Manager J.R. Wilson disclosed that attempts to get the Arkansas Department of Transportation to replace the traffic light there that was damaged when the top of a diesel truck's trailer collided with it was turned down because the intersection's volume of traffic is not sufficient for the cost of replacing the light system.

On its webpage, the city has announced the following specifics about the way traffic will flow at the intersection:

  • "Stop Signs on Elm Street: Traffic traveling on Elm Street is now required to come to a complete stop at the intersection before proceeding.
  • Free-Flowing Traffic on 3rd Street: Traffic traveling on 3rd Street no longer has a signal or stop requirement and is now free-flowing through the intersection."

The city also makes the following safety recommendation: "We ask that all drivers use extra caution while navigating this area as everyone adjusts to the new pattern. This change is part of our ongoing efforts to improve traffic efficiency and safety throughout the city. We appreciate your patience and cooperation."
