The sky in Emmet was bright with the dazzle of fireworks last night during the during the Second Annual Emmet 4th of July Celebration, and the local kiddos were thrilled with the show. Numerous families gathered for the event which held live music, food trucks, and vendors, in addition to face painting, bounce houses, a train, and much more for the youth.
Many of the children, eager with excitement and anticipation, lined up to take the special train ride, and that's where the SWARK.Today reporter caught up with Carter Bradshaw (age 6) and Caleb Ivy (age 4). Both boys said the train was their favorite part of the event! Those who had taken their turn on the train still had plenty to entertain them with a trick pony to watch, plus many other tailored-for-kids activities, and some even gathered for an impromptu game of touch football on the lawn while waiting for the fireworks display.
The soundtrack of the night was provided by Patchwork Revival, individual musicians from other bands who came together specially for Emmet's celebration. To the great delight of those in attendance, they played songs from classic rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, and more.
The Emmet Vision Association, EVA, had a special gift for first responders and presented them with pins last night to show appreciation for their service to the community. EVA planned and facilitated the entire celebration with the help of fundraisers, donations, and sponsors, all to provide a night of free family fun for local families to enjoy. "We want Emmet to be revitalized, and we're trying to bring the community together to do fun things," said EVA member Deanna Allen. "We hope people will want to move here. This is a great community to live in and raise your children."
If the sizable crowd in attendance at the celebration last night is anything to go by, then it would seem that many others share those same thoughts on living in the community of Emmet. The reaction of the many happy children proved the night was a big hit.
