Thursday May 16, 2024 was opening day for the Emmet Farmers Market. The amount of excitement and anticipation that surrounded this event was surpassed by the participation from local growers and the community.  Deanna Allen, park committee chairperson said, “The Lord blessed us today with beautiful weather and by holding off the rain until after the Market closed.”  The amount of residents of Emmet and surrounding towns that came to the market was evidence of how much this market is needed. The Emmet Market is the only local market that has been approved to accept SNAP/EBT benefits. Allen said “Food Stamp recipients can purchase their food items at the farmers market just like they can in the stores.”  Free transportation for Emmet residents that live inside city limits to Farmers Market provided by St Paul Church, contact Deanna Allen (903)559-3631 to schedule   The Emmet Parks Committee would like to thank the Emmet Vision Association (EVA) for providing the hospitality table, the farmers/growers and the customers that made this opening day a huge success. Jennifer Foster, George Adams, and Faith Beavert were winners of the door prize drawings.   This market is scheduled every Thursday morning at 7:30 AM until October.
