Emmet Vision Association announces holiday activities

Emmett City Hall.

PRESS RELEASE

The Members and Volunteers of Emmet Vision Association have planned a power-packed list of activities for the month of December.  We recognize there are multiple events occurring in the surrounding communities, but for those who enjoy that small hometown feeling, we have just the event for you.

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, a Tree Lighting ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm at the Emmet City Hall and Fire Department. There will be carolers, letter writing to Santa for the kids, cookies and hot cocoa, the Christmas Story (read from the Bible), and hayrides through our quaint little town to top it all off. And did I mention it’s all FREE? Yes, FREE!

If you can’t make it to the Tree Lighting, there is another opportunity for you to gather with old friends (and make new ones) at the Emmet Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 10. The parade route will be a little different than last year, we will mark the route with signs several days in advance to give you an opportunity to find a fantastic spot to view the parade with family and friends. The lineup for the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the old Emmet High School on Hazel Street. The parade will start at 6:00 pm sharp following the new route and ending back at the school.

And that’s not all. We invite you to caravan down to the Arkla Village Chuck Wagon where the party is just getting started. Refreshments will be served as the children have their time with the Big Guy himself and receive a special gift. This year EVA has added a new feature for boys and girls, ages five and under  and six to twelve. If you have friends or family members who once resided in Emmet but have now gone to their Heavenly home, the Memorial Tree is available for tracing your history. For more information, please contact Deanna Allen at (903)559-3631.
