Entergy makes donation to Nevada County Depot for Prairie D'Ane promotion
This morning a check was presented to the Nevada County Depot and Museum by Entergy during an 11:00 a.m. gathering at its headquarters on West First Street.

Blake Haynie, Entergy's Customer Service Manager for the group of counties that includes Nevada, said his company became aware of the Depot and Museum's need for funding to promote knowledge about the Prairie D'Ane site when Nevada County Quorum Court member Eric Jackson mentioned it.

"Once we heard about it, I reported it up, and all of my counterparts, as well as my superiors, were all on board to support it, so we're looking forward to it and glad to help out."

The check for $847.06, said Depot and Museum Director Jamie Simmons will go toward a specific purpose. "This will allow us to help further our mission to share history, share the history of Nevada County with the public by producing a interpretive brochure for Prairie D'Ane. We can share that history a little bit more effectively, thanks to Entergy's help," she said.

Also in attendance at the presentation was Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Director Jamie Hillery who said "I just think it's amazing that Entergy and the Nevada County depot can partner, and that energy is able to help the depot and furthering their their impact on our community."

Paul Ridgell, President of the Depot Museum Board said, "We're grateful for this to happen, because it really helps us." Board member Eddie Daniel also weighed in. "it's going to help us put it out there. So we want the public to come and view our Prairie, and the more people we can get in, the better it is for us. It's just a great spot. They just need to come and drive through it and see what's there," he said.

The Nevada County Depot and Museum is a non-profit that administers Prescott's 1912 Missouri-Pacific Depot, Prairie D'Ane Battlefield, Elkins' Ferry, Carolina Church and Moscow Church. All these locations are in Nevada County.
