Members of the Hope Evening Lions and their children pose in front of the club's banner this morning in the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce meeting room.
The Hope civic club most identified with its monthly food pantry but involved in so much more held its Hope-Hempstead Chamber of Commerce Coffee in the Chamber's meeting room starting a little before 9:30 a.m. this morning.
The food items were gathered and made by members of the club. They included donuts, ham and cheese pinwheels, meatballs, smokies, mini-eclairs, brownies, a fruit tray and several other items.
The Evening Lions provide a box/sack of groceries on the second Saturday each month to those who come to the 9:00 a.m. opening at the club's headquarters on 3301 East Third Street. Most recently, they assisted with parking at the Jonquil Festival. They have also provided funds for teachers to purchase items for their classrooms.
They also assist the Noon Lions Club with its fundraising fish fries and hold an annual trap shooting tournament.
