First Friday Monthly Market in Camden, AR announces the theme for our August 6th market is “Take Flight Camden. This month’s market will bring a special autism awareness in many ways. The market takes places each month from 6PM – 9PM in downtown Camden. A very special add to the market this month will be a fly-over by local pilots.
Be sure to catch the live music, back in the little park at the corner of Washington & Adams. This month’s live music will be recording artist, actor, and performer Reid Soria. Reid’s performance is called “Autism Sings” which is the culmination of years spent overcoming the odds. Diagnosed with autism at the age of 3, Reid was never expected to be able to communicate or connect with the world around him. Now 35, Reid has channeled his talents and sheer grit into an unprecedented story of hope. And in finding his own voice, Reid has found a new voice for autism and is communicating and connecting beyond what was once considered possible. Autism Sings! Reid Soria is a professional singer/entertainer from Fort Walton Beach, FL and he travels throughout the US and even Canada providing entertainment for all types of venues. He sings a variety of covers from oldies to classics to popular songs in all genres, all family friendly.
Stop by Hollis Evans Floral to visit with this month’s featured author, Wyletta Dilworth-Johnson. Wyletta Dilworth-Johnson is a local author and small business owner. Her nonprofit, Autistic Voyage, is created to bring support and awareness to those living with Autism. Changing the narrative one day at a time. She will have copies of her latest book " How Can I Complain" available for purchase. Stop by, say hello and smile for the camera. Wyletta will be bringing 4 of her “Autism Stars” with her for this event which will include a special art exhibit from one of her stars. There will also be a special scavenger hunt during the market, come participate and have an opportunity to win a gift basket.
Everyone can get your shopping in with a vast array of vendors set up along Washington St and Adams Ave selling everything from wood workings, clothing, jewelry and more. As you are strolling through the market you can get a glimpse of the sidewalk chalk art competition will is part of the “Great Camden Outside Fun Day”. We are very happy this month to have the Minute Man Food Truck joining us for the first time.
To prepare for the kick off for Saturday’s “Great Camden Outside Fun Day” Arkansas Bass Team Trail will be on hand to take last minute registrations for the Rumble on the River Bass Tournament. The tournament will start at 6AM Saturday on the Ouachita River offering a 1st place payout of $5,000.00 and additional cash and prizes for the top 10 finishers.
