Flash Flood Warning for Hempstead & Nevada Counties Until 3:45 pm

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 3:45 Pm CDT for:
Hempstead County in southwestern Arkansas
Nevada County in southwestern Arkansas

At 11:48 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD - Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
SOURCE - Doppler radar
IMPACT - Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include:
Hope, Prescott, Emmet, Blevins, Perrytown, Rosston, Fulton, Washington, Willisville, Bodcaw, Bluff City, McCaskill, Ozan, Cale, McNab, Oakhaven, Sutton, Laneburg, Boughton and Mount Moriah.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.

FLASH FLOOD DAMAGE THREAT – CONSIDERABLE

Dangerous flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing flood waters. If you are in an area subject to flooding, move to higher ground now. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
