FORMER KENSETT POLICE CHIEF CHARGED IN THEFT
December 5, 2023 Arkansas State Police arrested former Kensett Police Chief John Pollard on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, following an ASP Criminal Investigation Division (CID) probe initiated in late February. Pollard was charged with Theft of Property and Abuse of Office, Class B felonies. On February 28, 2023, the 17th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney made a formal request for ASP’s CID to investigate thefts at the Kensett Police Department (KPD). Polland was terminated from KPD during the course of the investigation. Investigators determined that Pollard stole approximately $73,000 in city funds by falsifying drug confiscation reports and personal time sheets, and by using city credit cards for personal use.  At the time of his arrest, agents executed a search warrant at his residence in West Point and recovered items reported missing from KPD’s evidence room. Pollard was transported to the White County Detention Center, and his bond was set at $100,000.
