This afternoon, four more teachers were inducted into the select company of the Hope Public Schools Educators Hall of Fame in the MAC building at Hope High’s Hammons Stadium.

They will also be honored at 6:30 p.m. at Hammons Stadium itself, just before tonight’s game between the Hope Bobcats and the Lakeside Rams. Each inductee will be presented at the 50-yard-line and will have their biographies read by announcer Steve Lance.

The four teachers inducted are

  • Susan Bailey, teacher of Reading, Spanish, Speech and Student Council. She taught for 28 years in public education, passing away just this year. Her son Phillip accepted the award on her behalf.

  • Judee Thompson Gunter, teacher of all forms of math (except geometry). She served as an instructional facilitator and taught for 37 years for Hope Public Schools.

  • Larry Muldrew, teacher of Science and a long time administrator, serving as assistant principal and principal of Yerger Middle School. He served Hope Public Schools for 38 years.

  • Cynthia Murphy, teacher of all subjects for third and fourth grades for 48 years.

At the induction ceremony, hosted by Hope Public Schools superintendent Jonathan Crossley, those who worked with or were students of the four were accorded time to speak of the contributions the four made and continue to make to education and to the individual lives of colleagues and students now scattered everywhere.

Some remarks from attendees of the ceremony and acceptance speeches by the inductees will be added in the following days as well as more photography.
