Fresh Finds and Handmade Crafts Shine at Emmet Farmers Market
Thursday morning June 6, 2024 brought a beautiful sunrise and start to a fantastic day at the 4th Emmet Farmers Market of the growing season.  Each Market day brings excitement and anticipation to see the number of customers who come and shop with local farmers; however, customers received a surprise, not only our local farmers but Debbie Vickers with Rada Cutlery and Joshua Tree were present. When asked about her items, Debbie stated “come get a knife to help you cut up your fresh vegetables and fruits. “ She has many kitchen accessories to please the chef in your family. Also new to the Emmet Farmers Market was Mike Sangalli with Joshua Tree from the Texarkana area. Joshua Tree provided customers an opportunity to purchase hand made wood crafts such as flower and plant trellises, wooden planters, wooden crosses, cutting boards, beautifully crafted bird houses and many more items. Mike states “I can also do special order items, so if a customer wants something made all they need to do is tell me what they want. “.   The hospitality table was sponsored by Pafford Medical Services.  Kristie Lang informed those that attended the market about the ambulance membership program that Pafford created to help members get affordable ambulance transportation. Congratulations to this week’s door prize winner Jennifer Taylor, each vendor at the market donates an item to the basket. The Emmet Farmers Market committee would like to thank the vendors, and the customers for helping to make the Emmet Farmers Market a success. Deanna Allen, committee chairperson stated, “If anyone who lives within the city limits of Emmet needs a ride to the Market all they need to do is call (903)559-3631 and the St  Paul Church van will bring them to and from the market.”  Allen was also excited to let everyone know that Emmet Farmers Market is the only local market that is able to accept Snap benefits and also participates in the Double Up Food Bucks. Allen said “We can accept SNAP/EBT benefits and we will double your money.”  The next market is scheduled for Thursday June 13, 2024 and opens at 7:30AM.
