FUMC introduces new pastor at Chamber Community Coffee
The First United Methodist Church hosted the Hope Hempstead County Chamber Community Coffee this morning to announce their new pastor, Larry Kelso with the townsfolk. Members expressed excitement about having someone consistent to preach the message each Sunday.    Pastor Kelso spoke a little about plans for the church body, “We are technically a mission congregation of the United Methodist Church. We are not chartered yet, but we are official. Our plan is to gather folks together and put a ministry plan in place. We will base this on the needs of the community that we might be able to provide. We are always accepting new members, and we just want to make sure that whatever we do, God is glorified,’ Pastor Kelso said.

A slew of locals and church goers showed up for the event and mingled about as they snacked on tidbits of delicious finger foods. Sausages wrapped in bacon, sausage balls, donut holes, cookies and bread slices with a spread were all a big hit with the large crowd.

Executive Director of the Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, Christy Burns said, “I am grateful for the turnout this morning in support of the First United Methodist Church and proud they are available to the community.”

Despite the dreary weather, it was a great day for a community coffee here in Hope.
