Fundraiser for Nevada County Fire-Rescue & Hubbard Family A Success

Prescott was full of action all day Saturday while activities unfolded during the joint fundraiser for Nevada County Fire-Rescue and the Hubbard family. A little something for everyone could be found, including horseshoes, a combat firefighter challenge, a benefit ride to Lake Greeson led by the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC), plus much more. In addition to the fun and games, great food was presented to the attendees, as well as an evening awards ceremony. NC Rescue Chief John Smillie shared with SWARK.Today how the joint fundraiser came to be. "Initially, it began when the Punishers LEMC wanted to host a fundraiser for our department to help raise money to replace a truck," Smillie said. "When our co-worker Jeremy Hubbard got sick, we wanted to do something for him, as well. So we decided to put the two events together."

Many members of the community participated in the day's event, demonstrating the power of friends and neighbors coming together for those in need. Punishers LEMC member Justin Vershay summed up the day best. "We were able to raise money for a really great cause," Vershay said. "We got to have a fun little ride and then participate in some great activities with really amazing people. We look forward to doing it again in the future."
