Guests were greeted with a warm spread of breakfast favorites, including mini pancakes with syrup, yogurt topped with fresh berries, sausage balls, and a full coffee bar. The inviting setup created a relaxed atmosphere where local citizens and community leaders could gather, visit, and enjoy fellowship with students and staff.
Throughout the morning, attendees had the opportunity to engage with the sixth graders and learn more about their work and school experience. The event served not only as a showcase of the students’ efforts, but also as a meaningful opportunity for them to practice leadership and communication skills while interacting with the community.
Christy Burns, Executive Director of the Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, was in attendance and shared her appreciation for the event, saying, “It’s always encouraging to see young students take pride in their school and step into leadership roles like this. Events like this community coffee bring people together in such a genuine way, and these students truly represent the heart of our community.”
The annual community coffee continues to be a special tradition at Garrett Memorial Christian School, offering a space where students and community members can connect, share, and celebrate the value of local involvement.
