Peyton has been in the middle of all of they Dragons success on the hardwood the past few seasons, showcasing his next-level work ethic and skill-set on a daily basis. "The younger guys have always looked up to him, he is now the Standard of the Genoa Central basketball program, he's great not only on the floor but the classroom as well," Coach Drew Hamilton said Hicks at his signing.
SAU is getting a good one, a very skilled player, with a great work ethic. Hicks has worked hard and improved drastically on his outside shot, ball handling, and his defense. Many nights this past season, Peyton was a 20-point, 15 rebound, 5 blocks and 5 assist guy for the Dragons. A very well rounded player. "I'm not going to lie I hate to see a kid like him go, he's been a great leader and SAU is getting a good one," Coach Hamilton added on Peyton.
"It's a surreal feeling, my whole family graduated from there, it was a no-brainer to me, the coaches are very relatable, they have a lot of resources, my visit seemed like a perfect fit, I'm going into engineering, so they have a great program there," Hicks said on what all went into his decision to head to SAU.
Coach Hamilton has been very influential to Peyton in the past few seasons, pushing him to be the best he can be, and making him want to work his tail off everyday to get better and to be an example for his teammates and younger athletes in the program. "Hearing Coach say that means everything, Coach Hamilton is the reason I am doing this, him and my parents, he drove me to be the best I could be, him having the confidence in me that he's shown the past few seasons really pushed me to be the best I can be on the court," Hicks said on his coach calling him the new standard for the Genoa Central basketball program.
We at SWARK want to wish Peyton the best in his future and as a basketball player at SAU.
