A ribbon cutting ceremony was held by the Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce this morning for Gigi Kate & Co. Boutique. The new speciality shop, owned by Rick and Tina Smith, contains a variety of women, men's and children's clothing, as well as shoes, hats, bags, framed pictures and so much more.
The little boutique is intricately decorated with beautiful attention to detail and pleasing to the eye. Among the racks of clothes, merchandise is laid out thoughtfully atop distressed vanities, tables and stands. Exquisite chandeliers hang from the ceiling, sending illuminating light throughout the building. In every direction one can see a sign or picture with inspirational phrases. It truly is a must stop shop.
Executive Director of the Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Jamie Hillery welcomed citizens to the ceremony: "I would like to thank everyone for coming out this morning. We are so excited to have a new business here in Prescott. Tina has done a wonderful job and a lot of work has gone into this building. It looks beautiful. I want to encourage everyone to shop local and support this boutique. That way we can keep these doors open and hopefully open more doors in town."
Hillery then turned it over to Smith.
"I do thank everyone for coming today and those that have been coming since we opened the doors a month ago for our soft opening. So many of you have shopped with us, we really appreciate you guys. This started as a dream for me about four and a half years ago. It started out of necessity, I had a hard time finding plus size clothes that I was comfortable in so this began in my living room with just a couple racks of clothes and a dream. I have wanted to have a store front for a long time and I am so thankful for the people who have helped me make this dream a reality, especially our landlords and my husband, Rick,” Tina Smith said through grateful, teary eyes.
She went on to tell the crowd what they have to offer, "We have plus sizes, regular sizes. We have extra small, all the way to 6X, men's shirts, socks, ties, accessories, home decor, a little bit of everything, and if I don't have it and you want it, I will try to find it,” Smith said.
The ribbon was officially cut out front and patrons enjoyed delicious snacks and drinks as they browsed through the goods. Gigi Kate & Co Boutique is located at 110 W First Street South in Prescott.
