GMCS Volleyball Travels to LR for Tournament
Little Rock- The Lady Saints Volleyball squad headed to Little Rock for a tournament this weekend, playing in 7 games in 2 days finishing with a 3-4 record overall. In the first game of pool play they faced a familiar foe in Gospel Light Friday morning, dropping the match in straight sets (25-14) (25-16) with Charity Zumwalt leading the way with 3 kills, and Silbi Jones and Evan Chambless each having 2 kills. 

Second game was against ACA with Garrett fighting back to win the 2nd set 25-20 after dropping the first set 25-13. ACA would take the final set 15-9. Gracy Martin had 2 kills and 2 aces, with Silbi Jones having a great game with 2 blocks, 2 kills, and 2 aces. GMCS would then drop a game to Union, losing the 1st set 25-16, winning the 2nd set 25-22, and Union grabbed the win 15-6 in the final set. Charity Zumwalt had 2 aces and a kill, and Silbi Jones had 3 kills and 2 blocks. 

Lady Saints would then start a winning streak by beating Valley in straight sets 25-21 and 25-13 with Charity Zumwalt and Gracy Martin each having 2 aces and 2 kills. Mikayla Fields added an ace and 2 kills in the victory. GMCS would start off the next match against Lisa North by losing the first set (25-20), but then rallying back and taking the final two sets 25-21 and 15-11. Charity Zumwalt took charge around the net with 6 kills, Evan Chambless had 2 kills and Gracy Martin added 3 kills and 2 aces. Garrett would finish pool play with a 2-3 record to advance to bracket play Saturday.

GMCS 3         Saline Co 0

GMCS defeated Saline Co. in straight sets 25-16, 25-12, and 25-16. Mikayla Fields served 4 aces and added a kill. Gracy Martin had 5 kills and 3 aces, while Charity Zumwalt had 3 kills and 3 aces. 

GMCS 0.        Union 3

The Lady Saints day would come to an end at the hands of Union, who would win in 3 consecutive sets. Gracy Martin and Evan Chambless each had 2 kills. 

The Lady Saints are back in action Tuesday as they host Mountain Pine.
