Hope- The first ever Watermelon Festival Volleyball Tournament took place on Saturday and the Golden Girls made up of Anna Watkins, Laila Santifer, Miley Loe, and Savannah Fields won the gold in the tournament. The tourney was a 4v4 style tournament, with pool play and then ending in a bronze medal game, and the championship. Team Trigger Happy was made up of Abby Mendoza, Jorgia Coffee, Lola Coffee, and Silbi Jones claimed 2nd place in the event. The Blues team of Liz Torres, Dayana Cardona, Sofi Valdez, and Cande claimed 3rd place. Team Spiker claimed 4th place and was made up of Delaney Underwood, Rylan Shurtleff, Ella Flowers, and Hollyn Harp. A lot of great volleyball took place on Saturday, many of which came from local schools, such as Garrett Memorial and Spring Hill. Alex Mendoza did an excellent job putting on the tournament, as we all hope to see the tournament grow in popularity and attract more and more teams each year.
