Governor Sanders Hosts 2nd Annual Farm Tour
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders hosted her 2nd annual farm tour on October 13th and 14th, visiting farms, higher education programs focused on agriculture, and agriculture businesses in Northeast and Southeast Arkansas.   On day one of her tour, the Governor traveled to Southeast Arkansas. While there, she visited Whitaker Grain to see their operations and better understand the challenges row-crop farmers are currently facing. Later, she visited the University of Arkansas at Monticello to participate in the announcement of the Center for Waterfowl Excellence, a first-of-its-kind center that strengthens Arkansas’ leadership in conservation, research, and education. She closed out the day at Wilson Brother’s Lumber Co., touring the sawmill and learning about their operations.   On day two, the Governor traveled northeast to visit Kueter’s Fish Company and meet with local fish farmers. Later, she toured the Arkansas State University College of Agriculture as well as the future College of Veterinary Medicine. To close the tour, the Governor visited Delta Farms Cotton Gin to tour their operations and hear about the state of cotton farming. Governor Sanders has advocated with federal partners, including President Donald J. Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, on behalf of Arkansas’ farmers, pushing for immediate and direct aid. Last month, she announced that Arkansas officials joined Taiwanese officials to sign a multi-billion dollar purchase of American soybeans and corn, with a special focus on Arkansas producers. B-roll from the tour is available here.
