Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders stopped by HeBrews 11:1 Cafe this afternoon to present the Arkansas Business of the Month Award to owner Arnetta Bradford.
"We've looked for businesses that we feel really exemplify the Arkansas spirit, and I don't think there's anyone that exemplifies the Arkansas spirit better than you do," Governor Sanders said, referring to Bradford. "The way you love on people from the minute you meet them and just welcome them in creates such a sense of hospitality and warmth in this spot. We wanted you to be our second Arkansas Business of the Month."
At this point those assembled clapped their hands.
"And I'm going to give you a little bit of a free pass," Governor Sanders resumed. "We're still waiting for that soul food restaurant to open up. I ask her every time. When is that going to open, I am so ready."
Sanders said she had taken a picture with the mural on the southern side of East Second Street showing her father playing bass.
Representative Danny Watson said the Mayor of Hope Don Still, Watson's neighbor, ("You've probably never heard of him," Watson said) who is also the president of the Melonvine Strider's Running Club has invited Governor Sanders to run in the Watermelon Festival 5K.
"My husband would love to run in that," the Governor replied. "I would gladly sign him up."
