FAYETTEVILLE - Former Arkansas starting senior-to-be nickel back Greg Brooks of Harvey, La. is joining former Arkansas bonus senior to be starting safety Joe Foucha of New Orleans returning to their native state with the 2022 Louisiana State University Tigers.
Both recently submitted their names into the transfer portal.
Foucha, a 4-year starter allowed a bonus season as were all who played during the disrupted by covid 2020 season, announced Tuesday he would join new LSU Coach Brian Kelly’s Tigers.
Brooks, a 3-year starter with two seasons eligibility because he played in 2020, posted Thursday on social media his intentions to go to LSU.
“Really from that bayou, this that alligator walk! I’m coming home,” Brooks posted. “Geaux Tigers.”
In his three seasons, 2019 under Chad Morris and 2020 and 2021 under Sam Pittman,
Brooks totaled 112 tackles with four interceptions and started 30 games.
Both Foucha, a 2021 senior captain, were part of a 2022 Arkansas defense helping propel the Hogs, 2-10, 2-10 overall and 0-16 in the SEC in 2018 and 2019 and 3-7 in a 2020 entirely SEC schedule that improved to 9-4 in 2021 and concluded the season defeating Penn State in the Outback Bowl.
The Hogs have lost four possible returning defensive starters with potential bonus seniors cornerback Montaric Brown and defensive tackle John Ridgeway turning pro as expected followed by Foucha and Brooks announcing their transfer to LSU.
Foucha and Brooks are scheduled to play one more game in Fayetteville, this time as LSU Tigers when LSU comes to Reynolds Razorback Stadium Nov. 12 for their annual SEC West/Golden Booth Trophy game.
